Course Objectives

To give participants the skill. As well as the knowledge to carry out their duties in a safe and effective manner
To allow staff with a heightened fire safety role to meet the training requirements that are detailed in the current workplace fire safety legislation.
Identify possible fire hazards in the workplace
Allow employees to assist in the fire risk assessment process
Understand how fires can occur. As well as how fire and smoke can spread
Identify the correct type of fire equipment for the class of fire
Make sure fire equipment is inspected and maintained frequently.
Be able to advise members of staff on measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of fire occurring
Be able to advise members of staff on action to take in case of an emergency

Programme Overview
The Fire Warden programme is designed to provide the specialised knowledge and training required for a person to be able to carry out the duties of a Fire Warden. It will raise awareness concerning the management and behaviour of people in a range of emergency evacuation situations, and the necessary actions to be taken before – during and after an incident.

Who should attend?
Anyone designated as a fire warden in their workplace or who wants to be trained as a fire warden.

Duration: 1 Day

Programme Content:

Fire triangle and causes of fire
Fire and smoke information
Practical use of fire extinguishers
Fire prevention
Fire safety planning
Law and risk assessment
Fire marshal/warden responsibility and evacuation

Approach: Programme participants are encouraged to express their views and experiences. The programme facilitates participant discussion to ensure a thorough understanding of the key points and their application. Real life case studies and exercises will be used to ensure a real practical understanding of each topic
